He was a Mexican boxer who marked history in the strawweight. Aside from being a boxer, he is also an avid lover of Salsa music, had an amateur record of 37-1 and had received many proposals in telenovelas. His profession was announced in January 18, 1985 in Cuernavaca, Mexico with a three round knockout over the opponent Rogelio Hernandez. One year after, he was extended to the ten round distances in Mexico City by Herminio Ramirez but he still won that fight by incomplete agreement. In their second match, he still retained his title. In two consecutive years, in 1987 and 1989, he won six more frays. Later in 1989, he won six before challenging the WBC continental America’s Straw weight during his final bout of the 1980s. Among the world’s straw weight by the WBC, Lopez ranked the first. In 1990s, by beating Jeorge Rivera, by a knockout in eight at Texas to retain his regional belt and then he followed with a ten round decision over Francisco Montiel and after that he signed a contract. In October of 1990, he traveled to Japan, where he became world champion by knocking Ohashi out in five rounds. In March 7, 1998, he diminished the perfection of his professional record against Nicaragua’s Rosendo Alvarez, but was able to edge out a split decision win at Las Vegas. In 1999, he became the world’s Jr. Flyweight champion, beating Grigsby. In December 2, 2000, to retain his belt, he made one more fight with the former champion Ratanol Vorapin, knocking him out. On November 23, 2002, Lopez called all major news outlets in Mexico to announce his retirement from boxing.
